Stela of Meri-ptahReplica Size: H 67.2 cm x W 53 cm x D 10 cm
Original: painted limestone
Replica: painted artificial stone
Egyptian, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, ca. 1410-1372 B.C.
The stela shows Meri-ptah offering before the gods Osiris and Wepwawet. Because of that it is assumed that the stela was placed at Abydos where Osiris was venerated and not in Meri-ptah's grave. The style of the stela was common during the New Kingdom.
