The magnet features the portrait of a smiling woman wearing a necklace. Painted on wood using the encaustic technique (wax painting), the lifelike image originates, like most surviving mummy portraits, from the Fayum Oasis. The woman is depicted wearing a pink garment with decorative trim, gold earrings with pearls, and two gold necklaces, one of which bears a pendant depicting the head of Medusa. Her hairstyle and facial features, particularly her large eyes, resemble portraits of the younger Faustina, wife of the Roman emperor Marc Aurel.
