The great Austrian actor, operetta tenor, and director Hubert Marischka (1882–1959) documented all aspects of his work for the stage during his lifetime in twenty representative photo albums. This personal cross-section reflects not only half a century of theatre history, extending from the imperial and royal era into the optimistic years of the 1950s; the albums also provide impressive testimony of developments in stage photography.
This book presents a remarkable selection with highlights from the photo albums is supplemented by photographs of two spectacular revues of the 1920s in which Marischka was involved.
