Johann Sebastian Bach: Goldberg Variations, BWV 988
Stefan Donner
Joannes Daniel Dulcken's harpsichord, built in 1745, is a beautiful-sounding instrument with a truly impressive acoustic presence, and also attracts attention as an opulent exhibit. In 1921, the instrument was added to the Collection of Historical Musical Instruments and restored to playability over the following decades. On this CD, its sound is documented for the first time through Bach's Goldberg Variations, composed in 1741, performed by the internationally acclaimed Austrian organist and harpsichordist Stefan Donner.
