Raphael Tapestry - Leaf Tendrils

Table Runner printed with flower & fruit details. Freely inspired design taken from the magnificent border of the tapestry „The Gibeonite Deception” by Italian artist Raffaello Santi (1483-1520). Imaginatively decorated borders frame the actual image motif of a tapestry. This eight-part Joshua series was designed by Pieter Coecke van Aelst before 1538. It was woven in Brussels and is the only extant Joshua series from the 16th century.
