Your contribution helps to fund the research project on the Imperial Crown. Thank you for your support!

The Imperial Crown is one of the greatest treasures that the KHM-Museumsverband is privileged to house. Made of gold, enamel, pearls and precious stones, it served for centuries as the coronation insignia of the kings and emperors of the Holy Roman Empire and can look back on a long and eventful European history.

But what do we know about the Imperial Crown? What does it tell us about early medieval arts and crafts, about rulership and its representation?

Within an extensive research project spanning several scientific disciplines, a systematic investigation of the Imperial Crown is now taking place for the first time. National and international experts are studying the structure and technique as well as the origin and components of materials used in the crown. In addition, the history of its restoration and reception is being examined.

Every contribution you make will help us implement this ground-breaking research project to its full extent.

Please support us to gain completely new insights to the Imperial Crown!

Thank you very much!
