Stories from the Post-Ethnological Museum
Book WMW Now #2 Size: 15 x 23 cm80 pages. , numerous illustrations, hardback
Language: English
The post-ethnological museum no longer regards ethnological collections as archives of ‘foreign cultures’, but as dynamic repositories of knowledge on global relationships. It critically examines their origins and provides new forms of interpretation, cooperation, and authorship. Central to this approach is the dialogue with contemporary art: artistic practices challenge established meanings and link collections to current social and ecological discourses.
Focusing on current exhibition and research projects of the Weltmuseum Wien, WMW NOW aims to question and expand existing narratives, promote multiperspective approaches, and critically examine socially relevant issues.
