Mummy Mask

This 3D magnet recreates a gilded mummy mask from the Ptolemaic period, as held in the Egyptian-Oriental Collection of the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna. The rich gilding on the face and the tripartite black-and-gold striped wig of the original once signalled the deceased's wealth and status, and symbolised the union of the dead with the sun god. Displayed on a fridge, pinboard, or whiteboard, the magnet brings a piece of ancient Egyptian funerary culture into everyday life.
