Wautier - Flower Garland with a Dragonfly
Mirror with fabric cover Size: 6,3 x 9 mm Mirror with fabric cover printed with a detail from the painting "Flower Garland with a Dragonfly" (1652) by Michaelina Wautier (c. 1614/18–1689), including a regular and a magnifying mirror.
The garlands are suspended from blue ribbons in the upper corners. The way she links the ephemeral splendour of the flowers to the vanitas motif represented by the classical bucranium (ox skull) motif is entirely unique and offers a further illustration of her exceptional originality and erudition.
