A Piece of Exhibition History – Reimagined and One of a Kind

Original exhibition banners that once welcomed visitors at the entrance to exhibitions at the Kunsthistorisches Museum have been carefully transformed into bags by theNACHBARINNEN,entirely by hand.

A limited edition of twentyReframedtote bags and cosmetic pouches has been created from three original exhibition banners:Arcimboldo – Bassano – Brueghel,Michaelina Wautier and Art and Aesthetics from China’s Forbidden City.

Depending on which section of the original banner is used, each piece reveals unique colours, motifs and compositions. No two bags are alike. What once hung at the entrance of the Kunsthistorisches Museum can now become part of your everyday life.

ButReframedis about more than the history of past exhibitions. Each piece combines art, sustainable craftsmanship and social commitment – giving a material that has already served its original purpose a brand-new one.

Who are the NACHBARINNEN?

NACHBARINNENis a Vienna-based social project that supports women and families from refugee and migration backgrounds on their journey towards greater independence and self-determination.

In their sewing workshop, unique products are created with creativity, skill and care. The proceeds help fund learning support for children, provide assistance to families and create or facilitate employment opportunities. In this way, every purchase helps create opportunities for the future, independence and integration.

Reframedis therefore more than just a collection of bags: it is a story of transformation – giving the past a new purpose and carrying its history forward.

A One-of-a-Kind Piece Awaits You.
